What's the Certified Copy Center?

The Certified Copy Center is the system used by the Patent and Trademark Copy Fulfillment Branch (PTCFB) to distribute certified copies and uncertified copies of published patent and unpublished patent and trademark documents for official and personal use. The PTCFB is attesting that documents are true copies of records from the agency. Authentic certified copies have a gold seal and signature of an authorized USPTO certifying officer. Learn more about the Certified Copy Center.

Check out our FAQs page where you will find answers to common questions on how to use the Certified Copy Center for ordering certified documents.

Want published or unpublished documents?

You need certified documents but which ones, published or unpublished? Here's some information to help you decide.

Published documents are available to the general public. These include patent and trademark documents from the USPTO databases. More

Unpublished documents are documents that are not available for public inspection and requires you to provide proof of entitlement. More

What is entitlement verification?

I want to order unpublished documents, but what is the entitlement verification verses ordering?

Entitlement verification allows you to order unpublished documents online by uploading the proper documentation, such as a power to inspect or a power of attorney for the requested record. To order the requested documents, you must have an approved request. After entitlement approval, you will then have 72 hours to pay for your requested documents. If denied, you will receive cancellation notice with the reason and potential follow up actions. More
